This natural beauty from the untamed far west, Anthology Woods Left Coast White Oak is at home in the rustic country and a stark modern environment alike.  Perhaps the hardest available White Oak for flooring, this variety grows exclusively in a narrow swath of the West - or "left"- coast, between the 34th & 49th parallels, is 25% harder than  common White Oak from the eastern United States.  Dial in the level of character or refinement that suits your look with our rustic Character and refined Select grades.   Evoking a connection to the raw and rugged slopes of the Cascades, Left Coast White Oak is full of inherent allure.  You'll see a variety of grain patterns, knots and checks (in character grade), and colors ranging from luminous soft wheat and pale caramel, to deep sun-kissed tan, and Character grade includes a few accents of rich espresso and near-obsidian mineral streaks.

Recovered in Oregon

To continue providing the building industry with conifer lumber for construction, logging often involves removing hardwoods in order to reach the conifers and bring them to market.  Our Left Coast White Oak is a by-product of this practice.

There was a time this gorgeous White Oak would have been burned in slash piles.  Today much of this wood is chipped and sold for industrial applications.  We think it is far too beautiful to aspire only to wood chips, so we aim to recover it from the chipper & up-cycle to bring this unique White Oak to you in flooring, paneling, and more applications.
