It started with a notice from one of our sourcing partners in the Midwest: a tropical hardwood sound barrier was being removed to widen a highway in the Chicago area, and the contractors needed to dispose of it. Specializing in reclaimed and sustainable wood flooring, cladding & tables, Anthology Woods is always looking for high-quality and unique woods ready for a second life, and the silver-gray weathered patina was beautiful

Anthology Woods recently collaborated with Substance Architecture in Des Moines, Iowa to customize Reclaimed weathered wood for small display shelves in their retail space design for Urban Eyecare & Eyewear. Each antique wood shelf is intended to showcase their eyewear, and we love the use of the rustic wood element in a clean contemporary space!

The Elusive Gray - Reclaimed Wood Wall Cladding

At Anthology Woods our clients are frequently looking for a “gray-weathered” reclaimed wood look. I have to admit, it is really striking to see the silver/gray shimmering tone on an accent wall. Depending on how the light hits it, a gray weathered wood wall can change colors and have an almost luminescent sheen at certain angles. Truly marvelous!
